Smoked-paprika, grown in a unique and unparalleled place of the Iberian Peninsula
Candeleda, a municipality in the province of Ávila, in the Valley of Tiétar, southwest of Sierra de Gredos and bordering the provinces of Cáceres and Toledo, counts with the biggest difference in elevation in the Iberian Penisula (Tiétar-Almanzor: 2.340 meters). It benefits from an exceptional micro-climate of abundant rains and mild temperatures all year long.
This temperate climate allowed the successful introduction of the peppers in Candeleda, where its artisanal production begun in the 19th Century and it continues today as it was, away from the practice of extensive agriculture aimed to cut costs. Development is in the hands of a few families, that using traditional methods, make an exceptional product of proven quality.
